Murray steals show at Saint Patrick’s breakfast

He pokes fun at his car crash at annual roast

The last time a top Massachusetts politician was photographed in a helmet - Governor Michael Dukakis during his 1988 presidential campaign trying to show he was tough on defense - it backfired. Lieutenant Governor Timothy P. Murray’s grand entrance sporting a NASCAR helmet and racing jacket drew laughter and loud applause at Sunday’s Saint Patrick’s Day Breakfast and political roast at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center in South Boston.

Our state government is an incubator of corruption and waste. And to rub salt into the wounds of tax payers we heap praise on a sub-par politician like Murray.

Not funny: Murray thinks it is a big joke and gets dressed in a NASCAR suit and parades around in a helmut! He totals the tax-payer's Crown Royal car, that was ON-LOAN to him: Has he paid back the cost of this car? However, rumor has it that he now has an expensive SUV replacement. Hope Murray isn't all that please about his gag, because just consider this is the same political crowd that cheered and applauded when Thomas Finneran and Sal DiMasi came back to visit the House after being charged with numerous accounts of criminal behavior. It made no difference to this motley crew that the former House Speakers were guilty and convicted of crimes against the public: Finneran was charged with perjury and obstruction of justice. DiMasi was convicted of conspiracy, honest services fraud, and extortion. Not too funny for the tax-payers - but big jokes & super funny for their pals (State Representative & State Senators).
