Assault charge dropped against veteran state trooper
PALMER — A charge of assault and battery against a veteran state trooper was dismissed in Palmer District Court Monday after his wife told the court she would not testify. Donald “Scott” Pillsbury, a member of the State Police K-9 unit, was arrested at his Brimfield home Feb. 23 after his wife alleged that he had assaulted her in the master bathroom after an alcohol-fueled argument. Trooper Pillsbury was charged with a single count of assault and battery and was arraigned that morning. State Police seized his guns, cruiser, and dog. After a hearing, he was suspended without pay.
