Laboy sentenced in corruption case
The former superintendent of the Lawrence public schools was sentenced Friday to 90 days in a house of correction, followed by a year of house arrest, 600 hours of community service, and an unspecified amount of restitution. Wilfredo Laboy was found guilty in Salem Superior Court Thursday on five charges of embezzlement and one charge of possession of alcohol on school property, said Carrie Kimball-Monahan, spokeswoman for Essex District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett. Laboy was found not guilty on three other embezzlement charges.
