Yarmouth man charged with assault on 69-year-old neighbor

A 50-year-old Yarmouth Port man was arrested Friday night after he allegedly beat another man in the head with a baseball bat, police said. John Looney allegedly assaulted a 69-year-old neighbor who was taken to a hospital in Boston in serious condition, according to Yarmouth police. Yarmouth police arrested Looney, who is a level 3 sex offender, after he arrived for treatment at the Cape Cod Hospital where his victim received emergency care. He will be arraigned Monday.
