Residents who have long claimed Hyde Park said the 02126 code has led to great anguish, causing insurance and real estate agents to increase their rates or lower their property value. It has also lumped certain residents into Mattapan, a neighborhood they have never called home.

I bought a house in West Roxbury last year. The water, phone, electricity hookups were made difficult because the utilities people insisted my address is Roslindale. I don't really care. But I did spend a lot of money for a house in West Roxbury.
The same should happen to Lower Roxbury (between Mass. Ave and Melnea Cass Boulevard). Right now the zip codes vary between 02118 (South End), 02119 (Roxbury), 02120 (Roxbury Crossing). It should be 02118 for the entire area, since the post office would be closer, and it would unify the entire area.
