Robert McCarthy of Braintree greeted his 10-year-old son, Liam, at the Braintree Armory.
The gathering marked the homecoming for "Charlie" Company of the 182d Infantry Regiment, Massachusetts National Guard.
McCarthy was also welcomed home by his wife, Sheila, and son, Derek (left).
The soldiers, who were deployed in Afghanistan for 12 months, were welcomed back with enthusiasm.
Destiny Dansereau of Assonet held a sleeping bag for her cousin Kevin Medeiros during the homecoming ceremony.
