Malden shootout suspect is held on $1 million bail

A man accused of robbing a Saugus bank and participating in a shootout with police in Malden was ordered held today on $1 million cash bail in Lynn District Court, Essex County prosecutors said. Michael Ginnetti, 38, was charged with armed robbery while masked, six counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, gun charges, and use of body armor while committing a felony. One of his alleged accomplices was killed in the shootout. Ginnetti pleaded not guilty on Monday. The Essex district attorney’s office said it had dropped its petition to have him held without bail because of his dangerousness.
