Cahill pleads not guilty to charges

AG alleges former treasurer bypassed lottery managers

Former state treasurer Timothy P. Cahill pleaded not guilty today in Suffolk Superior Court to charges that he used $1.6 million in Massachusetts Lottery ad money to bolster his unsuccessful 2010 campaign for governor. An ashen-looking Cahill arrived at the Boston courthouse this morning accompanied by his attorney, E. Peter Parker. Cahill’s wife and daughters, who have defended him in the social media, were not with him. He was released on personal recognizance.
