This is a horrible story, and the reporting leaves a lot to be desired. To describe the terrifying situation of the victims, and then to top off "bound, beaten" with "covered in condiments" pushes the situation into the realm of Monty Python. Really, Boston Globe? Take a look at the glib sub-text here and reconsider who might best report such a story in the future.

Why don't you take your fairly obvious hatred for the globe elsewhere? Does it pain you to see your once beloved BU taken to the woodshed lately?

Idiots. If you're doing something that is SO OBVIOUSLY going to get you in trouble if you're caught, why would you do it in conjunction with a wild party that's going on at 4am on a Monday morning? You KNOW someone is going to call in a disturbance if you do that, and when the police show up they're going to discover what you've done. So now you're facing felony charges...you're probably going to be expelled from the University...the national fraternity is going to yank your charter away...and you're probably going to lose your lease on the house you're renting. You've lost EVERYTHING, kiddos...all because you couldn't tell the difference between a fun initiation ritual and full blown abuse, and you made the utterly moronic decision to create circumstances that would increase the chances of getting caught. And by the way...what the heck is a Jewish fraternity doing throwing a party with BEER during PASSOVER???

What is happening to BU lately? It used to have a good reputation.
