Time to end hazing crisis

They should throw the book at the Big Morons On Campus responsible for the pathetic mess police found at an Allston frat house early Monday morning. But this hazing debacle isn’t just about Boston University. It’s not just about fraternities and sororities, either. Hazing hits headlines when somebody dies trying to fulfill some alcohol-soaked initiation rite, or when police happen upon humiliated hopefuls like the kids in Allston, but it’s everywhere.

As an undergraduate at BC 25 years ago, a friend of mine was raped by the the "stars" of the BC football team. There was "no proof" and the 4 idiots lied and provided alibis for each other. They were never even arrested and my friend transferred to get away from the harassment that followed. The incident stuck with me for a myriad of reasons but most of all the smug attitudes of the players. They believed, apparently, that they were worthier, more entitled and untouchable. That is the danger of Frats and groups that believe they are above the rules and consequences of their abhorrent behavior.
