Boston urges people to take the T on Monday

For the marathoners coming into Boston on Monday, it will be a long, hard slog. It could be that way, too, if you’re driving -- unless you plan ahead.

Boston officials are urging people to take the MBTA Monday because of street closings and parking restrictions due to the Boston Marathon and other Patriots’ Day activities happening in the city.

The city’s Transportation Department released a long list of streets that will be closed on the day of the marathon and, in some cases, in the days leading up to the marathon.

Parking will be banned on a number of other streets, the city says, on Monday. It will also be banned on a few streets on Sunday.
