N.H. officer honored at blood drive

Officer Daniel Doherty, 25, suffered five gunshot wounds to his legs and torso on March 21 and spent more than three weeks convalescing at Manchester’s Catholic Medical Center, where he underwent surgery. A crowd of dozens met Doherty with loud applause, and some happy tears, when he arrived at WGBH studios in Brighton, where the blood drive was held. “I’ve been very grateful for all the unbelievable support,’’ Doherty told reporters. “My family was with me every step of the way.’’
