Early history on display at Battle of Lexington Green reenactment
Children sleepy, but yawns stop as gunfire starts
LEXINGTON - Brian Setzer was walking alone through the predawn crowds gathered around Lexington Green, waiting for the reenactment of the first armed battle of the Revolutionary War to begin, when he ran into a neighbor from Manchester By-the-Sea. “How did you get your kids up?’’ he said. “Mine wouldn’t move.’’ Setzer’s kids are 14 and 12. He’d been working on them for days with talk of “all the history, and it started right here.’’ They didn’t care, he said. All they cared about was the 3:30 a.m. wake-up call. It just wasn’t going to happen on school vacation.
