Police search for suspect in bank robbery

Police are looking for a woman who robbed a Maverick Square bank by passing the teller a note saying that she had a bomb strapped to her body and would blow up the bank if she did not get money. Around 1:10 p.m. Wednesday, the woman approached a teller at the Sovereign Bank on Meridian Street and passed him a handwritten note that read: “Give me all the money in the register. If you hit the button I will blow the place up. I have a bomb strapped to me,’’ according to a police report. The teller told police that he gave the woman $20, $10, and $5 bills from his drawer. Bank workers told police the woman was given a total of $3,748. The woman is about 5-foot-3, with brown hair and a silver loop nose ring in her right nostril, the teller told police.
