Lawrence man arrested after chase

Jeep hits trooper, ultimately crashes

A Lawrence man allegedly sped away from a sobriety checkpoint early Sunday, striking a trooper as he fled, prompting police to shoot at the suspect before pursuing him into North Andover where the chase ended with crash. According to the State Police, troopers pulled over a 2006 Jeep Cherokee around 2:15 a.m. at a Lawrence checkpoint because officers saw a male passenger get out of the vehicle before the driver could be screened by the troopers.
