Document ties Warren kin to Cherokees

Genealogist cites application for marriage license dating from 1894

A record unearthed Monday shows that Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren has a great-great-great grandmother listed in an 1894 document as a Cherokee, said a genealogist at the New England Historic and Genealogy Society. The latest shred of evidence could validate her claim that she has Native American ancestry, making her 1/32 American Indian, but may not put an end to the questions swirling around the subject.

Globe says "But the Globe and other media outlets reported Sunday that Warren had listed herself, between 1986 and 1995, as a minority in... Globe LIES here. Boston Herald printed it last Friday. Several bloggers on Boston.com noted that. Question: Would the Globe have printed this story if the Herald hadn't let the cat out of the bag? Also is the Globe trying to escape the bloggers by printing this article here and not on Boston.com?

So having American Indian Heritage, something Ms. Warren might even be proud of, suddenly is something to beat her up with? It is obvious it had no bearing on her attaining a position at Harvard. It is also clear her opponent so far does not intend to have a policy or vision debate with her. Neither of these candidates is separated by some defect in their past. However they do profoundly disagree on their approach to governance in terms of purpose and policies. When Sen Brown tries to parce non relevant personal data as a reason to choose one or the other this only diminishes the present Senator. He is sniping at windmills. By the way, just to change the subject, does Sen Brown as a REPUBLICAN, does he support the REPUBLICAN PLATFORM? Ms. Warren can be asked the same on her part. Maybe then the public can find out what they really need to know about these two candidates.

Most people who claim certain ancestral roots can trace their family roots on a family tree. This is especially true with First Nations people who were given Treaty numbers at a very early American history. Therefore, blue-eyed, blond, Elizabeth Warren with "Delaware and Cherokee ancestry on her mother's side" should have no trouble tracking her true history - however, recognition and promotion of minority rights allowed many people to jump on the band wagon for preferential treatment. So, Proffessor Warren - no matter what your toadies and campaign workers may claim, this is a serious matter that speaks of your character.

In 1949 Oklahoma had a one-drop rule, adopted in 1931, for racial classification, which meant, if you were 1/32nd black you were black, and if you were 1/32nd Cherokee you were Cherokee.

This is nonsense. Move onto the issues...A good one would be is why is a Women's pay only .77 cents of men..

"If you have ancestry that's great. We encourage you to research it and do your proverbial homework," said Lenzy Krehbiel-Burton, deputy director of communications for the Cherokee Nation, based in Oklahoma. "With a margarita-sized grain of salt, there is a difference between having ancestry and being a citizen." Nine years Harvard listed her as Harvard's first Native American, even in print articles they stated this. She never complained and she provided the information. I'm 100% for affirmative action, this women lied to advance her career. This is an insult to every minority. She is disgusting.

This is big and speaks volumes on Warren's character. There is insufficient proof that would justify that she qualifies to be classified as American indian. She also not truthful about concern for consumers and does in fact defend big business against consumers such as in asbestos where she was paid for her legal services by Travelers Insurance co. The term is Deceit

Scott is a fool and a complete idiot. And it looks like we are not going to be getting any work out of him for the next six months. Thats six out of the 24 he had. Way to spend our mney, Scott.

Very interesting. Side by side inthe globe....they are attacking Scott Brown from following the law. The law, which he didn't like - says he can carry his kid on his insurance, and so he does and says he will cancel that law if possible. But until its gone, it is the law of the land. I don't like paying taxes...certaily when some or most go to lay-abouts and grifters - but I do. Doesn't make me a hippocrit... But Granny Warren certainly exploited her potential minority status... and if you call her on that... you are a mean racist... The Globe / Moonbat double standard lives on...

Looks like the hate filled Herald commentators are subscribing to the Globe.

Morning liberals, here's one for you! If one great-great-great grandparent was black, does that mean I can claim to be black, and claim that taking a test to be a firefighter is racially biased against me? Can we stop the racist diversity / affirmative action policies now and judge people by their abilities and character?

I can't wait for the next chapter of Liz Warren, Squaw Senator. I couldn't be more excited, I must say!

New Warren Campaign Song Campaign Song compliments of the late, great Irving Berlin from Annie Get Your Gun: Like the Chippewa, Iroquois, Omaha... Like those Indians I'm an Indian too A Sioux A Sioux Some Indian drummers they're without a care I may run away With Big Chief Sun-of-A-Bear And I'll have totem poles Tomahawk Small papoose Which will go to prove I'm an Indian too A sioux A sioux A sioux Oh, I'm an indian I'm an Indian I'm an honest Injun Indian I'm an Indian, too. (I kid . . . because I Love)

Do you expect any work out of St. Barack over the next six months? Did St. Barack get anything done in the Senate over his two years of campaigning. How about St. John (Kerry) while he was campaigning? I expect you hold all politicians to the same standard you are setting for Scott Brown.

I believe Elizabeth Warren when she says she didn't realize what a particular directory said about her. A previous Globe article quoted the directory's website that the information comes from the dean's office or the faculty members. I wouldn't be surprised to learn the dean's offices at the University of Texas, the University of Pennsylvania, and Harvard Law School all have an administrative assistant or a communications coordinator or a diversity manager who fills out all of the responses to surveys and directories. If in good faith Warren ever told the dean or the assistant/coordinator/manage that family stories say she's part native American, I'm sure the school gladly counted her that way. Sheesh, what a tempest in a teapot. If you've got proof she's not part native American, share it. If you've got proof she took unfair advantage of her ancestry, share it. Else, you're just bringing out the crazy in people.

Lots of families have vague traditions about their ancestry, supposedly I'm part Native American too, don't know which nation though. Records of how people defined themselves 100 years ago will probably misrepresent, since it was a time when anybody who was mixed would want to appear white. The South is full of people with native blood whose families hid the truth.

Prior to the Civil Rights Act of 1964, if you had a black great-great-great grandparent, that information would be used to deny you a job. I am glad to see you don't favor a return to that standard.
