Police vow crackdown on drugs in South Boston

The Boston police commissioner pledged to crack down on drug abuse in South Boston at a community meeting Monday night, two weeks after a 67-year-old woman was killed in her home allegedly by an addict, but some residents who packed a local elementary school to learn more about the plan were unsatisfied. Boston Police Commissioner Edward F. Davis laid out a multipronged approach to fighting drug crime in the neighborhood during the meeting at Tynan Elementary School on East Fourth Street, which drew a crowd of more than 400.
