Club raid uncovers gambling, police say

2 men arrested in Lawrence

A raid of a Lawrence social club uncovered illegal gaming activities, including betting on baseball games and simulcast cockfights from Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic, State Police said today. Lawrence and State Police executed a “no-knock’’ search warrant at 93 Essex St. around 7 p.m. Wednesday after a two-month investigation into alleged illegal gaming at the address. Inside, authorities said, they found about 25 people “taking part in illegal gaming activities.’’
