Bad week may haunt Warren

Handling of controversy over ancestry is roundly criticized

Elizabeth Warren fumbled through her worst stretch as a Senate candidate this week, setting off a debate among strategists over whether the controversy over her claims to Native American ancestry would linger when the November election is closer. Warren’s campaign won’t say when top advisors learned that she considered herself part Native American, an issue in her biography that seemed to catch them off guard.
