Homeland Security to release bacteria in subway stations during sensor testing

Public invited to comment on plan

The federal government is planning to release small amounts of dead bacteria in subway stations in Cambridge and Somerville this summer to test sensors designed to detect biological agents released during terror attacks, but some people were skeptical of the initiative during a public meeting on Wednesday about the program. Authorities do not believe the small amounts being used pose threats to anyone, regardless of their health condition.
