Officer is struck by vehicle in Brighton

A Boston police officer was struck by a vehicle and injured in Brighton Wednesday evening, the Police Department said. The officer was hit on Commonwealth Avenue and suffered injuries not believed to be life-threatening, said department spokesman James Kenneally. The unidentified officer was taken to a local hospital for evaluation, Kenneally said. The cause of the accident is still under investigation, and no violations were issued by Wednesday night.
