Relative of BU crash victim backs driver

Critical of charges after fatal accident in New Zealand

One week after a car crash that killed three Boston University students studying abroad in New Zealand, the family of the Salisbury woman seriously injured in the crash expressed outrage that the driver, a 20-year-old BU student, has been handed criminal charges for the accident. “I think that’s terrible. That is just terrible,’’ said Annette Theriault, the woman’s grandmother, who lives in Salisbury. “It was an accident . . . I just feel so bad for him. He’s going to have to live with this for the rest of his life.’’
