Patrick vindicated for passing up Schilling’s pitch

Governor Deval Patrick was under pressure in 2010 to support 38 Studios, then a Maynard-based video gamemaker seeking to expand its operations. It was headed by a local hero, former Boston Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling. Yet the Patrick administration doubted the wisdom of the investment, and Schilling later decamped from Massachusetts to Rhode Island. Last week brought a measure of vindication, as Schilling appealed for more money after his company missed a $1.1 million payment to Rhode Island.
