Richard Connors, 67, taught and inspired the blind

Having spent much of his adult life helping people adapt to blindness, Richard Connors of Dedham had some idea what to do when his own vision became impaired several years ago. “He was on both sides of the fence,” said Joseph Kolb, who succeeded Mr. Connors as director of community services at the Carroll Center for the Blind. “He became familiar in a very intimate way with skills he himself had taught to several hundred, maybe thousands, of people.”
