What’s open, closed on Christmas Day

Holiday observed: Tuesday.

Retail stores: Open at owner’s discretion.

Liquor stores: Closed.

Supermarkets : Closed.

Convenience stores: Open at owner’s discretion.

Taverns, bars: Open at owner’s discretion.

Banks: Closed.

Stock market: Closed.

Municipal, state, and federal offices: Closed.

Libraries: Closed.

Schools: Closed.

Mail: Post offices are closed; express delivery only.

MBTA: All four subway lines, bus routes, Silver Line, commuter rail, and ferry service will run on a Sunday schedule. The RIDE will also run on a Sunday schedule.

Boston traffic rules: Parking meters are not in effect.

Street sweeping: There will be no daytime street sweeping on Tuesday with the exception of 12 a.m. to 7 a.m. on posted ­roadways.

Boston’s trash collection: There are no collections in any neighborhood on Tuesday. Neighborhoods with one weekly collection will be delayed by one day for the remainder of the week. Neighborhoods with multiple collections are postponed to the next collection day.
