The week ahead will have a few clouds but plenty of sunshine, too

This week will bring a few clouds, but overall the sun will be out as temperatures stick in the 70s and 80s, according to the National Weather Service.

Monday’s skies will be mostly sunny, with highs in the upper 70s along the coast, while western Massachusetts will see temperatures in the mid-80s.

The forecast calls for a slight chance of rain in Eastern Massachusetts Monday, and Western Massachusetts could have a thunderstorm with heavy rainfall.

Overnight temperatures are expected to be in the 60s Monday and Tuesday. From Wednesday on, overnight lows will fall to the 50s, the weather service reported.

There is a 50 percent chance of rain overnight and into Tuesday.

Tuesday temperatures across the state will be in the low to mid-80s. The day will start off with a few clouds but skies will clear up around lunchtime. It will be extremely humid Tuesday night, said meteorologist Alan Dunham.

“You’re going to want the air conditioner on Tuesday night,” he said.

Wednesday will be mostly cloudy with a chance of scattered showers. Temperatures will be in the low 80s. During the evening, the air will start to dry out and give some relief from the Tuesday’s high humidity, Dunham said.

Thursday and Friday are expected to be sunny, with a chance of showers on Friday afternoon as a cold front moves into the area. Highs will be in the 70s.

Saturday will bring rain and clouds with highs in the upper 60s and low 70s.
