Franklin Zoo: Rare Siberian crane chick has hatched

The Franklin Park Zoo announced this week that a rare Siberian crane chick has hatched and is growing fast. The chick is one of 24 Siberian cranes in accredited zoos in North America, and the Franklin Park Zoo has six at its exhibit, said Pearl Yusuf, an assistant curator at the zoo. The zoo has not yet named the chick, but one option would be Oleg, which is a common Russian name meaning prosperous, she said.
