Warren trounces rival, girds for nasty campaign

At state party convention, DeFranco can’t garner enough votes for primary

SPRINGFIELD - Elizabeth Warren, vowing Saturday not to “fold up the first time I got punched,’’ reinvigorated her Senate campaign with a crushing blow to her last remaining primary opponent, clearing the way for a direct challenge to US Senator Scott Brown.

Warren, drawing on her strong support from Democratic activists, used her organizational muscle to take 95.77 percent of the delegate vote.

Lizzy - "It's a long way from Ted Kennedy to Scott Brown" To which I say, "Thank God"

Ok, we've learned that Democratic delegates will look the other way with plagiarism, falsifying federal diversity documents, taking the place of a rightful minority in affirmative action, purchasing and flipping forclosed properties, taking money from Travelers to limit liabilities against asbestos victims. Oh, and don't forget playing a victim herself, and accusing Scott Brown of 'attacking her family' for doing the exact same thing most newspapers are doing, and asking for an explanation of her false heritage claims. Democrats don't understand, independents will be horrified at the thought of Wigwam Warren as their Senator.

Using Peter "booze cruise" Blute(He had to resign from Mass Port after the Herald revealed he was tooling around Boston Harbor with nude women using the agency's funds) as a Republican Party spokesman is indicative of the disarray and ethics deficit of the GOP's approach to Elizabeth Warren's achievement. It is yet to be seen if Sen Brown will come out of hiding and debate his actions in congress for this state by going head to head with Prof Warren. Marissa DeFranco had zero public experience. She did not have the funding or campaign strategy to bring her case across the state. This what sunk her as a candidate. She did the best she could but it was not persuasive to the overwhelming majority of the delegates. No one ousted her. She lost fair and square. So called party activist's influence is sort of an oxymoron since delegates by definition are Party activists. They are chosen by election at Precinct and Town Committee caucuses. It was here also that their intentions of whom they will vote for at the Convention was known. So anyone doing some meticulous bean counting could have predicted the result but since these votes are separate it was not known how overwhelming this vote was going to be until everyone gathered at the Mass Mutual Arena.

"I am Scott Brown and I approve this message."

Gee, that's the same thing Scott Brown said when told that Elizabeth Warren remarked that she didn't take her clothes off to earn her way through college. Is that you speaking Scotty?

One of the first things she needed to know is the Red sox play baseball at Fenway Park, the bruins are a Boston hockey team and Sam Adams is a beer. Other than that she's just a "regular guy" for the middle class.

The middle class is getting hammered....by predators like Granny who swoop in on Foreclosed properties and flip them... Oh - wait - she's a smart harvard type. Perhaps she was just pretending to support the housing bubble and be in the "1%" so she could then speak from experience when she created the underpinnings of the "OWS" movment? And...now that I think of it...perhaps the thing we don't know is that she has been running her own undercover operation for 20 yeras showing how easy it was to cheat on minority preference.... and she's going to soon give us the results of her study and propose another new government agency????

jp05 beat me to it.

"girds for nasty campaign" Well at least the Boston Globe is honest about how they intend to cover this campaign. For some reason, perhaps goaded by their competition with The Boston Herald, they have decided that way to cover this election is to get down and dirty. As I have said before, once a newspaper gets a story wrong, they never let it go. The Globe never fails to insert the phony Native American Heritage issue that they fell for into every story they run. They are bound and determined to make this a real issue, no matter how foolish it may make them look as they fail at this attempt to invent an issue. Apparently they are willing to risk what is left of the newspaper's reputation, rather than admit that the Republicans duped them into covering this bit of their propaganda campaign. If I didn't understand where the Globe's corporate interests lie, I might think I was back in the days when Pravda was the laughing stock of the west.

It's not about family, professor. It's about CHARACTER. If you traded your alleged ancestry for career gains, and you have no American Indian ancestry, then you have no character. It's just that simple. No matter how long ago it happened.

What puzzles me about these comment sections on this site and others similar this one is the need or obsession, on both sides, to depersonalize the person on solely personality and not the issues that truly support the writer. If pro business for truly deserving American citizens then your candidate has the acumen, ideas and communication skills for deserving of your vote. If pro sosial net for truly deserving Amercan citizens then ditto. I've taken a vow in my small circle of both friends and acquaintances not to take part in discussions in the upcoming federal, state and local elections. Hard as it has been for the past 6 months for this news and political junkie, I've kept to it. I keep up with the news from both camps but defer from joining the fray. Not because I can't present a cogent defense of my opinion but too often within minutes the discussion devolves into personal diatribe. I do miss the Buckley, Galbraith "style" of debating philosophical and practical political opinions. Buckley, Gore did get nasty on both sides, briefly. And it's not the "good old days" rambling. Today it's become just plain nasty and the Internet escalates this change exponentially. I read the blogs up to the first foul, personal attack the sign out. Wasted intellectual energy.

Profile of a Sociopath:pathological liar, lack of remorse, guilt, empathy, creates lies extremely convincing, manipulative, charming, arrogant, engaging and grossly inflates self worth at the expense of others........ I wonder who that could be? A women who was unaware that Harvard listed her as an indian. A women who listed herself for years as NA at Harvard and once she was hired for Tenure at Harvard she no longer listed herself as NA. Why? A women who last yr claimed she was the First women to breastfeed why studying for the bar. A women in academics is well aware how serious plagiarism is and still plagiarized a cookbook, claim it was passed down from her Indian tribe, when she copied it from the NYT. This is a strict voilation code at Harvard. A women who said that she was the only women in the late 70's to take the train to work. My favorite is her grandmother who used a horse and carriage back in the day,and was at her college graduation. This women claimed her grandmother was so proud of her on that special day. The problem is that the grandmother died two years before. I could go on. She clearly was not vetted.

I attended the Convention as a delegate. Warren's camp did a great job recruiting people to run for the Convention. The outcome was not a surprise. DeFranco gave a poor speech. Delegates thought that she has a future, not as a US Senator in 2012.

The far left extremist are not much different, then the far right nut jobs. They get pretty upset with real facts and will demonize you at all costs. Warren is a sociopath, the far left does not care. They refuse to understand that Mass has more independents, then democrats and republicans combined. Warren was not vetted.

Look at those good 'ole Amuurican "stars and bars" behind her! What a phony! Is the "tribe" happy now?

You mean just like those other tools of capitalist lackeys the New York Times and the Washington Post?

You are totally correct professor "It's a long way from Ted Kennedy to Scott Brown.''. You and the rest of the left wing loonies should heed the message sent when Senator Brown took the "Ted Kennedy seat". As an Independent voter, I find it incomprehensible that voters with a very high level of educational achievement would elect and re-elect someone like Ted Kennedy. Of course when a snot nose Kennedy child not only suffers from delusions that ha has the qualifications to replace Rep. Barney Frank but signs the praises of a professor who had to obtain her exalted position by playing the minority card.

Steve13565: You are a poster child for delusional behavior. The issue is not the degree of NA that flows thru the veins of Ms Warren. The issue is that she claimed NA status to gain a competitive advantage in the quest for an Ivory Tower position. Furthermore, you should apologize to the editors of the Globe for your unsubstantiated allegations of their biased in covering the story of Ms Warren's lies.

Brown is following this year's Republican game book: take the best aspect of your opponent, here dazzling intelligence, and make it a lead weight around her neck ... yeah, yeah, yeah: Warren, the affirmative action baby but with a dishonest twist, just like the knuckledragger "tea party" and Karl Rove brain-trusters have against the President. Disgusting, disingenuous, disheartening and disreputable. And Brown belongs with his Republican Senate colleagues who vowed from Day One of Obama's first term to destroy him. Scott Brown is now trying to play the wolf in sheep's clothing routine while he starts off his campaign with a racial, vicious attack on Warren. Some Senator for the Commonwealth.

She's been working for 25 years for the public. Really? Even when you were a law prof? or flipping houses in MD?
