Plan unveiled for Suffolk Downs casino

Developers want $1b ‘urban oasis’ at racetrack site

Developers proposing a Suffolk Downs casino offered the first public glimpse of their “urban oasis’’ Tuesday, outlining broad concepts behind a reinvention of the Depression-era racetrack into a luxury gambling resort under the Caesars brand. Plans would retain thoroughbred racing at the site, which straddles East Boston and Revere, remodel the existing grandstands, add a 300-room hotel and up to 10 restaurants, entertainment venues, retail shops and a spa, and 200,000 square-feet of slot machines and table games.

In all of the news reports I have seen or read on this, there is one issue I have not hear discussed - traffic. How the heck are you going to get thousands and thousands of visitors daily through the already congested tunnels??!! And how will this impact airport traffic? How will residents get to and from work? This is like trying to squeeze one of the Tall Ships into a bottle. I can't wait to see how the developers will explain this one.
