President Obama winning battle for small donors

Analysts cite enthusiasm factor

All the attention directed at the mega-donations that business titans are making in the race for the White House this year has eclipsed an equally critical aspect of the fund-raising war - courting the little guys. And in that boisterous battle of e-mails, celebrity-sponsored contests, and online credit card charges, President Obama is clearly winning.

As of the end of April, 43 percent of the donors who contributed to the Obama campaign gave $200 or less, generating a total of $88.5 million, according to the Campaign Finance Institute, a nonpartisan Washington research group. By contrast, only 10 percent of those who gave to former governor Mitt Romney’s campaign had made donations of $200 or less, accounting for $9.8 million.

Donating to the Obama campaign does not require you to put in the three digit code, donations can come from anywhere. romney's web site requires the code, John McCain's did also.

Another look at Obamaworld and you gaze into the eyes of his adoring media writers. Dig and scratch through the rubble and wreck of his four years as he wandered along, kicking a stone up the road to ruin. Even President Clinton, reminds us that he balanced his budget and now our nation is at the threshold of ruin and debt. This writers allusion to Mr. Romney's funding sources not being from small donors excludes mention of huge donations to Obama from Hollywood's elite and non-American citizens like George Tsouras. I, Mr. Rezendes, am a donor who could only cough up $25 from my retirement income. Millions like me are in that accursed Tea party and it would serve you well to remember us. As a Catholic priest once remarked, "Figures don't lie, but liars can figure". All these trumped up reports alluding to those horrible rich capitalists remind me that America is a country filled with entrepreneurs you now write about with such contempt. After some thought, I realized that socialists do not hate capitalists. Invested communists do. This hate filled war Obama and his party are generating divides the country and makes simple minds believe that being rich and successful is a criminal activity. It is a sad, sad day when your only stepping stone to reelection is on the backs of your fellow Americans.

Dinner with Mitt and Donald? Huh??? Mitt wants his presidency to be a circus?

You really are that blind and close -minded huh?

Or are you Eric Lapdog again?

Who/what is "ErikLap Dog"?

As one of those small donor foot soldiers, let me say "Yeah!"

Why is this surprising? Why would individual middle class donors contribute to their own discomfort and demise? Aren't Romney's previous actions (and Scott Brown's votes) enough of an indication as to where their allegiance lies? It has been said that with 100% of the people, 90% will see the obvious the first time. Of the remaining 10%, eight percent will take more than one time. But the 2% that is left could be hit in the head with a 2x4 and not see the situation clearly. Are we all a member of that 2%? I hope not.

Barry the O would be fired if he was a middle management worker in the private sector... He has traveled to more than 100 fund raisers in the past two years... This greedy hack went to two gimme parties in New York and two more in Hollywood... He did a clumsy somersault on the gay marriage issue so he could rush out to Hollywood and pick lots of gay folks' popckets there... Yes, money is necessary towin elections, but the U.S. has finally reached the line where the occupants of elected office are spending more time lathering their campaign office walls with $100 dollar bills than they are doing whatever their elected job requires of them... And the likes of Nancy Pelosi and the Democratic Party chairman and the Obama flea squad bewailing Republicans as 'plutocrats'... As if Obama, Pelosi, Kerry, Reid and dozens of the elected Demohacks in Washington are not millionaires several times over... They are all like Obama, greedy little slugs that need to be dumped so some decent, public spirited folks can take over...

Mittens has the obscenely-rich, corporate-oligarchy vote locked up...gee, wonder what those one percenters expect in return?

Always interesting to hear from the rightwing trolls who dwell in their own strange little world where neither intelligence nor common sense prevails.

Try a little prozac, foxy.

I cannot respond to the total opinion you wrote, but a few facts (as differentiated from opinions) are in order. First, most economists saw President Obama looking BEHIND him at rubble and wreck caused by the Bush Administration "Freefall" Stiglitz, J. Second, President Clinton did indeed balance his budget, but...you neglected to mention that he did it without one Republican vote! Speaking as a Democrat, I want to see every company and market make money, lots of it. The difference is that I also want to see everyone else share in the wealth. The rising tide should lift all boats, not just those of the very wealthy. You should look at the relative wealth of the richest Americans over the last ten years and compare it with the middle class. Last time I checked, the lower classes had serious problems just staying even! That means NO increase in real wages! Is this the country you want, where money buys elections and the vicious circle of the official voting the way his monied benefactors wish, to make even more money, wins? Read the next post, please.

There is a very interesting article in the latest issue of Rolling Stone. It names Romney's largest dollar donors and what they expect when he becomes president. Much of it is speculative on the writer's part, but there are enough quotes, reasons and actions mentioned to give the reader a picture of a government for sale.
