20 arrested in crackdown targeting area drug trade

Centers on Charlestown public housing complex

A lengthy investigation into the illicit drug trade in Charlestown has led to numerous arrests by Boston police in a joint operation with the FBI and prosecutors in Suffolk District Attorney Daniel F. Conley’s office. At least 18 people are now facing drug and weapons charges stemming from an investigation that focused on alleged gang members engaging in drug dealing and “associated criminal behavior’’ in a housing development in the neighborhood, officials said today.
