Quincy police officer Joseph McGunigle, a 15-year veteran of the department, has been terminated after a second hearing with the mayor’s office. McGunigle was terminated in a decision issued Tuesday after he allegedly violated orders by Police Chief Paul Keenan to stay out of the police station. Prior to his termination, McGunigle had been suspended for 30 days and had his firearms permit revoked after an alleged confrontation with a neighbor last September. McGunigle has sued the city and the police chief, who he said “failed to maintain his neutrality” in handling complaints against McGunigle.
