For immigrants, a sigh of relief

For so many people — people like Conrado Santos — the news that they may soon be able to legally stay in the United States stirred up a host of emotions that boiled down to one: relief.

No more worries about being discovered, no more hesitation to board a flight. No more of the chronic concerns that are completely foreign to so many of us.

I like Rubio's plan. Give those children who are here illegally through no fault of their own some form of legal status, but no easier path to citizenship than those who are here legally in line.

Noorani and Walker seem to have forgotten about the TAXPAYER... I work hard for my money and I dont want a red cent to go to supporting ILLEGALS. Yes, Senator Kennedy, SEND THEM BACK. Millions of LEGAL AMERICANS out of work...and Obama gives preference to ILLEGALS. Disgusting.

We have a president who takes personal part in the assassination of alleged terrorists, a shameful praactice that no previous president was ever known to be guilty of. That is not to say prior presidents did not authorize and know about assassination plans, it just says they never took a hands on role like this self-aggrandizing military wonderkind who never served a day in his life. Now we have a president making his own version of a law on immigatrion, deciding what that persons brought into the U.S. illegally by their parents are Americans because they had no choice in the decision to cross the U.S. border and stay within the nation's boundaries... illegally. Barry the O makes all kinds of broughaha limits to his self-created effort to create law as President, preaching that it is not amnesty, has time limits imposed, etc. Then, just to try and cover his butt, he comes up with this cute little try at legal justification for his phoney move - good old Janet, the Homeland Security chief amazon, made Obama's ruling herself as a case of law enforcement. Now we have a police agency that can create law, based on what its chief sees as an emergency. What a phoney ratsnest of unconstitutional claptrap this stuff is... created solely so Obama can go around to a few more dozen fund-raisers bragging how he will get the Hispanic vote because he has become fair to one segment of the immigrant community. Does this rstanest also apply to Irish folks and Ghanian folks and Albanians and Iraqis who may be in the U.S. illegally. Or is there a Spanish or Portugese language requirement so the Barry O mob can point out that lots of folks of Brazilian and Mexican and Nicarauguan ancestry get the breaks the U.S. lawmaker-in-chief has decreed? Oh yes, there is by the way a trilevel government in this country, legislative (Congress), judicial (federal courts), and executive (President). The President can not overrule the other two except if he vetoes a congressionally-passed bill or uses some sort of gimmick like recess appointments of certain federal office holders whose appointments require congressional endorsement. Sure am glad I never had to take a constitutional law course from Barry the O.

Thank you, Obama.

Shame on Obama for circumventing the law. Thank God his one term will be ending soon.

The intention was for hispanic vote and offense against Romney, and it is un constitutional, but we no longer repeat out constitution in this country, so i guess who cares.

Don't complain about Obama. George Bush (The last one) used to refer to illegal immigrants as "immigrants", and Ronald Reagan let millions of them get amnesty. The current illegal immigration problem is clearly a manifestation of Republican incompetence on the issue.

I am glad to see that Elizabeth Warren really does care about Massachusetts. She agrees with Obama's policy of letting illegal immigrants stay, without taking the next logical step of deporting the parents who brought them here. By doubling down on moonbat crazy in this way, Pocahantas will ensure the re-election of Scott Brown. Then she can go back to her plagiarizing, affirmative action scamming, foreclosed house flippin' Cambridge lifestyle.

Please educate me and everyone else. How exactly is it unconstitutional. Immigrants aren't mentioned in the Constitution at all. You made the charge. Are you prepared to defend it?

Adrian - Shouldn't it really be "For ILLEGAL immigrants, a sigh of relief?"

Who Cares our President has made a deliberate choice to not uphold the laws of this country at least in this case. Enforcing the laws is the chief responsibility our chief executive. At the very least ie is derelict in his duties.

Actually, the correct term is undocumented. That's the official term. People like to say "illegal" for its propaganda value. People who are undocumented have not committed a crime and there is no criminal penalty. The only penalty is deportation.

He never served in the military, which you bring up quite often. So what? We have civilian control of the military in this country and Presidents who were high ranking military officers, other than Washington, were either so-so or awful as President. There is no democracy in the military. You either give orders or take them. How does that prepare you for a political career? Maybe it prepares you for a career in private business, which is run the same way.
