A flight instructor and his student pilot walked away from the wreck of a plane that broke in two when it crash-landed in Arundel. The Bangor Daily News reported thtat the plane went down in woods Friday evening. Instructor Richard Whicker of North Berwick, 58, and his student, William Hart, 50, of Lyman, had just taken off from Biddeford Municipal Airport in a single-engine Cessna 160 when the plane developed engine problems. Police said Whicker took the controls and made a U-turn back to the airport. The engine problems continued, so Whicker picked a swampy area in the woods and landed the plane between trees. (AP)
