Scott Brown OK’s debate at the Kennedy Institute

Only if certain conditions met

Senator Scott Brown said he will accept a debate at the Edward M. Kennedy Institute but only on the condition that Vicki Kennedy stay neutral in the election and that MSNBC not be included as a broadcast partner.

The Brown campaign said in a press release that it would agree to allow former NBC anchor Tom Brokaw to moderate.

Comments

I suppose Mr. Brown has the same reservations for Dan Rea and his advocacy radio program on WBZ. Perhaps he might ask his wife's approval of the format and have her review the questions.

Good for Brown... He's showing a tad more machismo than expected, but is also standing up to the Demomob feminine mystique that was trying to turn a campaign debate into a party propaganda session with its media broadcaster and its institute sponsor, both of which are dedicatedly partisan... in favor of the leftest-listed Democrats like Ted Kennedy, Duval Patrick, Barry the O, Terrible Tessie, and of course, Professor Lizzy from Hahvud.

If he feels it would be a biased forum Brown should simply refuse rather than toss in a poison pill like demanding Ms. Kennedy remain neutral. If his record is strongly favorable for MA voters it should not matter who hosts the debate.

jerk.

The proposed debate by 'wannabe Senator ms.vickie' ought to be SHUNNED. We know he is an excellent Senator for Massachusetts - and - we also know ms.vickie is hand-in-hand with the Democratic party to try and make Professor Warren appear electable. The motley crew are trying hard to smear Senator Brown with you know what. They want to goad him. My advice to Senator Brown is, "Don't kow-tow to the motley crew, but rather, let the motley crew stew in their own murky pot."

It makes perfect sense to demand that Mrs K stay neutral. She is the director of (and I'm trying to keep a straight face here) a non-partisan educational organization that just happens to bear the name of the most liberal senator of the 20th and 21st century.

Let's just see how "NEUTRAL" Vickie Kennedy is and will be. Now it's up to Prof. Warren to accept the radio debates. Let's not forget that in many of his re-election campaigns, Ted Kennedy refused to debate his opponent at all and if he did it was just once.

The issue is not Vickie Kennedy, Tom Brokaw, or MSNBC but it seems the Senator can not abide a wider audience for his views. Even candidate Obama went on Fox News and actually did well. So what is Mr. He-Man afraid of ? If he wants to discuss the areas of questioning so be it. However having his political pie and eating it is a non starter. Blacking out a large constituency of this state does not seem consistant with being a legislative representative. He should be able to express his views in any public forum. The audience for the major non cable networks is not exclusionary to one set of the electorate. Buck up Senator!

You think that this is machismo? Wow! And you value machismo in a Senator? Double-wow! Don't forget......he actually took care of his own kids while his wife was working. I saw it in an ad. Oh, maybe you didn't like that one.

Smart move by Brown. Neither MSNBC nor Fox News should be rewarded by being treated as capable of impartiality.

NO TV debates by a national TV network. If Elizabeth Warren wants to be on TV, then the local radio hosts can be used on TV. If Warren disagrees with that then she really isn't just looking for more exposure on TV. You KNOW that she would refuse a debate given by Fox News. And NO debates sponsored by the Kennedy Institute. 100% liberal and elitist Victoria Reggie will NEVER be neutral Scott Brown can just mention that Ted Kennedy regularly refused to debate his opponents.

Senator Wussie the People's Pansie

Pray tell... Please tell us idiots why he is an excellant Senator.. Please, please please

A note to Senator Brown: This election is yours to lose. You're not going to be able to get reelected by refusing to debate in front of Democrat voters. Not here. Democrats are a huge part of the Massachusetts electorate. You won't get reelected by relying on Republicans only. The numbers just don't add up. If you think that Massachusetts voters are all Independent, I'd just add-good luck with that.

These people who are so enamored of their own view are sad -- imagine advocating shunning debate. how about a little brain power instead of ideology? The voters of Mass deserve more.

Coward.

Why is Scott so cowardly? Grow a pair Scott....you're supposed to be this tough guy. Coward.

Obama debated on Fox News. Not everyone is as Cowardly as Scotty

"Senator Scott Brown said he will accept a debate at the Edward M. Kennedy Institute but . . ." So, then he has NOT actually accepted the invitation, right? This is not exactly acceptance in my mind. It would be better stated as "Senator Scott Brown said he might accept a debate at the Edward M. Kennedy Institute, but he's still thinking up reasons not to do so".
