State Senate president favors tax holiday, too

Senate President Therese Murray said she can see no reason why the state Senate will not pass a sales tax holiday for this summer. “We have passed it every year,” Murray said Tuesday. “I don’t see why we wouldn’t do it again this year.” The legislation has made its way toward the House Ways and Means Committee, and House Speaker Robert DeLeo has said through a spokesman that he would like the bill to become law. Massachusetts has had a two-day sales tax holiday since 2004, except for 2009. The holiday this year would be Aug. 11 and Aug. 12.
