Teacher accused of rape released on bail

A Taunton schoolteacher accused of having sex with a 14-year-old student has been released on $100,000 cash bail, and his lawyer says he is innocent. Patrick Doyle, of Seekonk, was released Thursday, but was ordered to wear an electronic monitoring device and to stay away from the girl. Doyle, 33, pleaded not guilty Wednesday to three counts of aggravated statutory rape, enticing a child under 16, and distribution of obscene material. Authorities said that Doyle drove the girl to his home at least three times, where they allegedly smoked marijuana and had sex.
