Vandals strike statue outside church in Orleans

A statue of St. Joseph and the infant Jesus was vandalized Wednesday night outside a church in Orleans, the church’s pastor said. The Rev. Bob Powell of St. Joan of Arc Church on Canal Street said it appeared that red paint was splashed across the front of the statue. He said a number of other places in the Cape Cod town were also victims of vandalism. “It seemed to me like just a child-like prank,” Powell said. “It didn’t seem to be in reaction to anything, especially since other places were also victims of it.” Powell said that custodians were able to remove the substance.
