Governor Deval Patrick has filed a temporary budget for the next fiscal year that starts in less than a week. Patrick asked lawmakers on Monday to approve up to $1.25 billion for the interim spending plan, which would maintain state government operations until the Legislature agrees on a permanent fiscal 2013 budget. The interim budget would also authorize the state treasurer to make advance payments of state aid to cities, towns, and school districts. A six-member House-Senate conference committee has been working behind closed doors to resolve differences between spending plans passed by both branches earlier this year. The current fiscal year ends June 30.
