A 20-year-old Hyannis man was charged with shooting another man Friday with the intent to kill, Barnstable police said. At 3:30 p.m. Friday, police received several reports of shots fired in the area of 12 Hiramar Road, Hyannis. Officers found a 28-year-old man who had been shot in the leg. He was transported to Cape Cod Hospital with injuries that were not considered to be life-threatening. The victim provided a description of the suspect, which police used to locate and arrest 20-year-old Di’lon Smith of Hyannis. Police said they recovered a loaded handgun with an altered serial number. Smith was being held at the Barnstable police station on $25,000 bail, and was scheduled to be arraigned Monday on charges including assault with intent to kill and unlawful possession of a firearm.
