A group of Connecticut fire fighters, including 11 state environmental workers and nine community firefighters., are heading to Virginia to help battle wildfires there.

They will help the US Forest Service put out fires in Shenandoah National Park.

A fire burned Sunday in the western portion of the national park near Fort Royal, Va. Tourist officials say that it is not affecting the most visited portions of the park.
