School bus monitor brings antibullying message to Boston

On the street, at a downtown Boston restaurant, in Logan Airport, Karen Klein drew plenty of stares and a good share of hugs.

The 68-year-old school bus monitor, who became an international sensation after a video showing a group of seventh-grade boys harassing her went viral, spent a few days in Boston this past week.

Boston radio station Mix104.1 brought Klein and her daughter, who live in a suburb of Rochester, N.Y., to town to do a morning show. It’s among the many media appearances — from “Anderson Cooper 360’’ to the “Today Show” -—that Klein has made since the video gained worldwide attention in mid-June.

“It’s unbelievable,” said Klein on Saturday as she waited for a flight back to New York. “It’s like I’m in a dream, that’s what it’s like.”
