Police are investigating a possible case of animal neglect in Brockton that left one dog dead and three others in poor condition. Rob Halpin, spokesman for the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, said that four pit bulls were kept outside without food or water during the intense heat. One died; the three surviving dogs were seized by Brockton animal control officers. Halpin said the MSPCA is working with Brockton police and animal control. Police officers are questioning witnesses and trying to find the dogs’ owner. When they are finished with the investigation, they will turn it over to the MSPCA.
