Two pedestrians were struck by a car Tuesday afternoon after the driver lost control and veered onto the sidewalk, Hampton police said. Officers arrived at approximately 2:20 p.m. to learn that a vehicle had gone up onto the sidewalk, striking the pedestrians, Deputy Chief Richard Sawyer said in a statement. Police identified the driver as Yvan Lafont, 49, of Dracut, who suffered injuries not believed to be life-threatening. His passenger — Lucilley Dinsmore, 60, of Lowell — had serious internal injuries. Both were taken to Exeter Hospital, and Dinsmore was then transferred to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. The pedestrians were taken to Portsmouth Regional Hospital with injuries also not believed to be life-threatening, police said.
