The day started cloudy and rainy, but clear skies are expected tonight for the celebration of America’s 236th birthday.
National Weather Service forecaster Charlie Foley said the morning rain would give way to a mix of sun and clouds for the afternoon. The region may still see scattered showers and thunderstorms during the afternoon, he said.
Temperatures will be in the low 80s with thick humidity. The humidity should be milder by tomorrow, Foley said.
None of this is expected to disrupt tonight’s fireworks show over the Esplanade. Foley said the evening’s forecast “looks good for fireworks.”
While there may be some clouds present, they won’t be low enough to interfere with visibility of the show.
