Route 128 traffic in Newton snarled when modular building falls off truck

Traffic on Route 128 was backed up for two miles around noon today after a modular office fell off a tractor-trailer, forcing the closure of some lanes, State Police said.

The incident happened on Route 128 North near the on-ramp from Route 16 in Newton, State Police spokesman David Procopio said.

Crews moved the truck onto the grass median between the on and off ramps of Route 16 to get it out of the way, allowing traffic to resume, he said.

No injuries were reported.

The State Police commercial vehicle enforcement unit is investigating why the modular structure fell off the back of the truck.
