DRACUT

Man’s body found in Merrimack River

Detectives are trying to identify a body found in the Merrimack River Sunday morning, Dracut Police said. A boater found the body around 11:30 a.m. near Merrimack Avenue and Haverhill Street, Dracut police Sergeant Larry Flynn said. The body had probably been in the water for at least a few days, he said, and belonged to a white or Hispanic male who was wearing a polo shirt and wind pants. Police did not find any identification and could not determine the man’s age or whether he had been injured before entering the water. The body is now at the medical examiner’s office, and Dracut detectives are combing missing person reports for a match.
