A city employee working on fire alarm wires in Waban Square in Newton this morning had to be rescued when the power on his bucket truck died while the bucket was at least 20 feet in the air.
According to the Newton fire department, the man was stuck for about 10 to 15 minutes over Beacon and Woodward Streets before rescue arrived.
Eric Fricke, a fire department spokesman, said the employee was transferred to a new bucket truck and brought down.
Fricke said the man was an employee of the city’s Wires Division who was maintaining the city fire alarm box system and using a city-owned truck.
