A clerk at a Fall River convenience store beat a man with a metal baseball bat after he attempted to steal money from the register, police said. Fall River police said that officers responded to Sunny’s Convenience store on North Main Street at 2:50 p.m. after a call for an armed robbery. Police said a white male with a thin build, about 5-foot-7, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and carrying a large knife, demanded money from the store clerk. The clerk threw a jug of water at the suspect and when the suspect unlocked the door to the cash register area, the clerk swung a metal baseball bat at him, according to police. Police said the suspect then fled.
