A hazmat team was sent to a Boston College chemistry building Sunday night after a strange odor was reported, according to the Boston Fire Department’s official Twitter page. Students noticed a strange smell after entering a third-floor lab of the college’s Merkert Chemistry Center around 6:45 p.m. The students called Boston College Police, who notified city firefighters. Fire officials declared the incident a level 3 hazardous materials response, under which the firefighter entry team is fully suited up when entering the building, according to the department. The building is at 2609 Beacon St. in Brighton. The incident was still under investigation Sunday evening.
